“We have maintained our leading position in the medical and pharmaceutical education in Russia and made it to the top best universities in Russia again. This achievement is the result of the daily, efficient work of the entire university. I would like to thank all my colleagues for the contribution they made to this success. In 2017 we focused on international cooperation, interdisciplinary research projects, and development of unique network educational programs. A new line in SSMU development has become the Flagship University Program”, commented Olga Kobyakova, SSMU Rector, on the ranking results.
In April 2017 Siberian State Medical University was granted the flagship university status, having become the first regional medical university to be included in the Flagship University Development Program designed by the Russian Ministry of Education and Science.
National University Ranking is an annual large-scale investigation of Russian universities that has been carried out by Interfax since 2010. University performance is assessed according to six key criteria: education, research, social projects, international cooperation, innovations, and brand policy. Evaluations are made after processing data from questionnaires filled out by university representatives, public data on official university websites and information sources of the Russian Ministry of Education and Science and data from the SPARK and SCAN analytical systems.
Siberian State Medical University was established in 1888. Currently SSMU is the first flagship medical university in Russia. Besides, it is a big research, education and clinical complex that includes 7 departments (5,700 students from 60 Russian regions and 28 countries), Central Research Laboratory, a state-of-the-art simulation center, and University Hospital, treating more than 20 thousand patients every year. SSMU is also a leader in the number of state-funded student places among medical universities behind the Urals.
