SibMed vand Skoltech created NeuroNet-Сenter for brain studying in Tomsk


Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology (Skoltech) and Siberian State Medical University (SibMed) announced opening of "NeuroNet-Center" in Tomsk on Thursday, which will be engaged in studying of resources of the human brain and thought processes during the work with a computer, the correspondent of RIA Tomsk reported.

As it is reported on the website of the NeuroNet project, its participants study possibilities of increase in productivity of brainwork due to integration of the human brain and computers. A number of academic institutes, innovative companies and universities (in particular, Skoltech, Higher School of Economics and Ural Federal University) are involved in work of NeuroNet. The center on the basis of SibMed will become a part of the project.

The head of group on scientific and industrial policy of Skoltech Irina Dezhina, the rector of SibMed Olga Kobyakova in the presence of the deputy governor of the Tomsk region on Scientific Educational Complex Lyudmila Ogorodova declared creation of "NeuroNet-Сenter" in Tomsk on Thursday.

"We have necessary competences for this purpose, school of sciences of the sphere of neurosciences, strategic academic unit, qualified personnel and neurologic clinic with a pool of patients who are necessary for implementation of the project", – the rector of SibMed commented the event.

In turn the representative of Skoltech explained: "Medical data are collected at our infrastructure CoBrain-Analitika platform which can be used in diagnostics and early prevention of various diseases. Companies can be users, and regional extension (NeuroNet project) just aims to attract a private sector".

According to Lyudmila Ogorodova who is in the rank of the Deputy Minister of Education of the Russian Federation was at the origins of creation of the NeuroNet project in Skoltech, the Tomsk center gives an opportunity for an exit to the international level to the Tomsk medical science and the knowledge-intensive business.

"Creation of the platform of big data is very serious resource which can't be found in the region and even at several universities at once. This platform will allow to involve experts from the global market of science. In this sense Skoltech is a very important partner for us", – was summed up by the vice governor.
