Foreign first-year students of SibMed celebrated the beginning of the academic year
Olga Kobyakova, Rector of SibMed, met with foreign students to congratulate them on the beginning of their first academic year.
Students from India, Nigeria, Namibia, Ghana, Cameroon, Botswana, Zimbabwe, the Dominican Republic and Jamaica came to study in SibMed. They will have a 6-year program in medicine in the best non-capital medical university in Russia. Olga Kobyakova, SibMed Rector, congratulated international students on the beginning of the academic year and wished them success and great results in their studying. Besides, the students were told about opportunities that the university and student associations offered. Now the students should adapt to the new environment, study Russian, learn local traditions and get acquainted with the local climate, cuisine, etc.
Clinics of SibMed provide foreign students with all necessary assistance in getting medical care. Since September 2018, students from Germany, Ethiopia, Tanzania, Nigeria, Zimbabwe, India, Bangladesh, Namibia, etc. have visited SibMed clinics. The most common complaints were head- and stomach aches and cold-related diseases.
“For foreign students to get medical care in comfortable conditions, our medical center has managers that guide and assist them throughout the entire process. These managers can speak English well and they support international patients at all stages of medical care provision: from filling in medical documents to doctor’s visits and diagnostic tests,” said Irina Bogomolova, director of the medical center “Professor”.
